Even a short coffee break can be enough time for someone to peek at sensitive files, change settings, or send emails in your name. Leaving your screen unlocked in the office, a café, or even at home around visitors is like leaving your front door wide open.

✅ Solution: Get Into the Lock Screen Habit

Locking your device takes seconds, but it is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your data.

🛠 Step-by-Step: How to Lock Your Screen Instantly

On Windows:

  1. Press Windows + L

  2. Or click Start > Account Icon > Lock

On Mac:

  1. Press Control + Command + Q

  2. Or go to Apple Menu > Lock Screen

On Your Phone:

  • iPhone: Press the side button to turn off the screen

  • Android: Press the power button or set your screen timeout to lock quickly in Settings > Display

⏰ Tip: Set Auto-Lock for Extra Safety

If you forget to lock your screen, auto-lock has your back. Windows: Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Require sign-in Mac: System Settings > Lock Screen > Start screen saver when inactive Phone: Set screen timeout to 1–2 minutes

💡 Remember

You do not need advanced tech skills to protect your information. Small habits like locking your screen can stop big problems before they start.
