Welcome back to another episode of HeyIT’s Tips and Tricks! This month’s tip is a simple but powerful way to stay protected online:
Keep your devices updated.

Why It Matters
You know those update notifications you keep ignoring? They’re more important than they seem. Updates often include security patches that fix newly discovered threats. Skipping them leaves your phone, computer, and personal data vulnerable.
Solution: Turn On Automatic Updates
Want to stay protected without lifting a finger? Enable automatic updates so your device takes care of itself.
Step-by-Step: How to Turn on Automatic Updates
On Your Phone:
iPhone (iOS)
Go to Settings
Tap General
Tap Software Update
Tap Automatic Updates
Turn on Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates
Android (may vary slightly by device)
Go to Settings
Tap Software Update or System > Advanced > System Update
Enable Auto download over Wi-Fi
On Your Computer:
Windows
Click Start, then Settings
Go to Windows Update
Click Advanced Options
Toggle Receive updates for other Microsoft products
Make sure Automatic updates is ON
Mac (macOS)
Click the Apple menu > System Settings
Go to General > Software Update
Enable Automatic Updates
Tip: Set a Monthly Reminder
If you prefer to update manually, add a calendar reminder to check for updates once a month. It's quick and keeps your defences strong.

Remember:
You don’t need to be a tech expert to stay secure. A few small habits - like keeping devices updated - makes a big difference.
